Maison Tess - My Terrible Experience - Advice for product being different than advertised?
Main Post:
Hi All,
I purchase a duvet cover from Maison Tess a little while ago as a gift. The gift receiver (after the 30 day return policy) opened the cover to test it out and found the dimensions were off from their website. 6" longer in both directions.
Extended customer service emails said they cannot be returned after the 30 day policy, and that they had updated their sizing charts a little while ago - even though online they're still the same dimensions as when I bought them.
Any advice on how to handle a scenario when a product you purchase is not as described on their website?
As a side note - their customer service is absolutely terrible. Strongly suggest staying away from them.

My Maison Crivelli reviews (12 fragrances)
Main Post:
Recently been a fan of Maison Crivelli. This is easily the most sampled brand I have done to date and I am confident enough to evaluate it - purely personal opinions of course. I live in a hot and humid country, summer all year round and hence body heat is higher here. Fragrances are listed by alphabetical order.
Absinthe Boreale - I have not tried absinthe (drink), but I feel that there is a disconnect in the proposed imagery of sipping tea under the northern lights and the actual smell of the fragrance. It's creamy, herby and aromatic with a slight metallic bitter green note somewhere. Performance is very poor - it disappears quickly on my skin within 2 hours. Compositionally I dont think it is very interesting as well, as although a unique scent, it just doesnt do anything for me. 5/10.
Ambre Chromatique - Okay this one is probably the weirdest MC in terms of composition. It's resinous, balsamic amber that has the smell of sweet dried fruits, coupled with incense to give it a playful and colourful lift. All these descriptors seem to point to it being a strong and pungent fragrance - but this actually has a lean body with clean and clear notes. How I picture the scent is a piece of small benzion containing dried fruit that slowly burns. Fairly linear, but has fantastic performance like other MC extraits.
Bois Datchai - Tea coupled with slightly sweet earth and skin vibes. Personally I feel that the earth aspect has a body odour feel to it so I can't say I'm the biggest fan. Performance is weak as well. I think that this is an interesting and unique scent but it doesn't smell all that great to me due to the BO. 4/10.
Citrus Batikanga - Okay the opening is challenging but the beauty of this scent is in the drydown. Opens with citrus and cardamom, and then pepper spices, myrrh and wax join in. It's quite a savory, peppery and salty scent. It's gourmand done in an interesting way where usually gourmand fragrances are sweet or vanillaic. Compositionally, very well blended and unique fragrance but again, I have to dock points for longevity. 3 hours on my clothes, tops. 7/10.
Fleur Diamantine - white floral bouquet (jasmine and neroli) with some mint and perhaps aldehydes for lift. Lots of green. There's also the feeling of ground and soil to lend it some body, but its really subtle. You've probably gotten the Crivelli MO for their EdPs at this point - this is another weak fragrance. 6/10.
Hibiscus Mahajad - I know this one's the hyped MC baby. It's a loud rose (not that jammy but is definitely more medicinal) and some florals backed with leather and musk accords. This is one intense fragrance and is more Arabic in flavour. Personally, while its a strong and eternal lasting fragrance (a shower couldn't scrub this off), I dont really vibe with the composition as it doesn't smell like a natural scent. It's heavy on the leather which I think adds a medicinal feel to the rose & flowers. 6.5/10.
Iris Malikhan - This is also another very highly rated MC fragrance, featuring iris backed by a warm vanilla, buttery and leathery base. The opening is harsh and challenging, but the drydown is so much better. Personally, I find iris as a note to be sharp and powdery, but Iris Malikhan softens and rounds the edges of iris with warm, grounded notes. I think it's compositionally an interesting and unique fragrance, but overall this does nothing for me as I still dislike the smell of iris in general. Longevity I've found to be slightly above average, but its not in the "long lasting" category for me. 7/10.
Lys Solaberg - Um, one trick "fruits + amboxan" pony. It's compositionally boring with moderate performance. 2/10.
Neroli Nasimba - TF Neroli Portofino but reimagined and supported by a luxurious, grained leather that also does feel a bit animalic sometimes. Has a soapy feel to the neroli when combined with the leather. This thing is wild, and I love it. It's so unexpected and caught me off guard. Incredibly unique composition, and performance is slightly above average. I own a 30ml, and definitely need more! My favourite MC to date. It would be a straight ten if it had the beast mode performance of MC extraits. 9/10.
Osmanthe Kodoshan - dusty floral with tea and tobbaco. It also has astringency/tartness. Compositionally quite daring and interesting but the scent does nothing for me at all, and it also suffers from poor performance. 2/10.
Oud Maracuja - Big juicy passionfruit with oud, leather, slight rose and saffron. Honestly - I dislike the extremely loud opening but the drydown is where goodness starts. Incredibly beautiful blend that has beast mode performance. 2 sprays is enough for the whole day, possibly 1 depending on the weather. I own a bottle but I find myself not reaching for it often because it isn't office safe or even for daily wear. 9/10.
Papyrus Moleculaire - I want to preface that I have trouble smelling cedarwood or sandalwood. This one smelled weird on me, like those plastic floating donuts at waterparks. Not sure whats going on, but my experience seems to be very very different from other's opinions. Won't rate this one. Also a light scent.
Patchouli Magnetik - This is the most repulsive patchouli I have ever smelled in my lifetime. This one straight up stinks to me. Smell aside, and if I endure the smell of the patchouli, there are cake notes, some fruits, cream and light florals supporting it. The texture of the smell is rounded and smooth - actually beautiful texture! However you must know that the patchouli styling is extremely earthy and soily. This is pungent, and extremely powerful performance. 1 spray should last more than a day. 4/10. If you are a fan of patchouli, you definitely need to give this a shot. It could be interesting for a patchouli lover.
Rose SaltifOlia - Rose syrup with a marine base. Salty and aquatic rose. Not bad, but slightly poor performance on me. 6.5/10.
Santal Volcanique - Opens with a vibrant lime, spicy ginger and light sandalwood. At the drydown, the lime fades away, leaving a slightly citrusy, gingery wood. Not bad, but more performance is to be desired. Slightly weak performance. 6.5/10.
Conclusion
While a lot of the fragrances have a rating below 5, MC is probably my top 3 favourite niche house. Their scents are generally easy to understand (not very very complex), are straightforward yet unique and pleasant. True to their philosophy - they offer twists to conventionally popular fragrance styles.
The EdPs typically suffer from performance issues, bar Iris and Neroli. Extraits all have massive performance and sillage, often requiring at most 2 sprays for the whole day. If you consider the less perfume used per wear and also performance, the Extraits are actually cheaper than their EdPs. I highly recommend checking out their Extraits discovery set.
Top Comment: I’ve personally really grown fond of this house. I recently bought Oud Stallion and I think it’s up there in my top 3 favourite fragrances of all time. Not super keen on some of the other scents, like Patchouli Magnetik and Bois Datchai, but I still appreciate what they’re trying to go for. Oud Maracuja is really popular, but I’m not super wowed by it. I need to try Hibiscus Mahajad and see how I feel about it, but generally Quentin Bisch does things that aren’t really my style.
Maison Mihara Yasuhiro Original Sole (Hank) - Sizing Help
Main Post:
Looking to cop a pair of original soles and am kinda lost on sizing as im hearing both tts and size down statements.
I'm tts 9.5 but have a few pairs of converse (ct70) in 8.5 and they fit me perfectly. Size 9 converse are too long for my liking and size 8 converse are too tight.
Since MMY og soles don't have half sizes i was wondering if it would be better to go for a size 42 (US9) or a size 41 (US8) since im not sure if they fit the same as converse or closer to tts. Any help is appreciated; thanks!
Top Comment: Terrible fit no matter how you size em on the lows. My heels slip out of the heel cup. And my toes wedge into the toe box on TTS. They are def beautiful and turn heads everywhere. I only rocking em when I know I’ll be doing more sitting during the day. 🥲
